Welcome to Katie's Travel Blog. This is really Jenny-doesn't-get-to-travel blog where I (mom) keep track of Katie's adventures so I can have some vicarious enjoyment! Here's a look at what one globally-aware kid from little Santa Cruz, California gets to do these days if her mom's willing to keep working!

Global Youth Forum

2014: Global Youth Forum in Kansas City
It's on the docket, tickets are purchased, seats confirmed. She can't wait for November to meet up with this group of globally-focused young adults.
Learn about the event. (Katie's in the photo but she's totally behind the guy with the big head!)

2013: Global Youth Forum in Washington DC

This time they met in the Nation's Capitol to talk about to talk about global education. If possible, she had an even better time and came home ready to go back (once again). She always makes friends when she's gone and comes home with amazing stories. She wished she could stay with GYF people because they are "her people" which to me means she's with engaged, happy kids who are ready to change the world.

2012: Global Youth Forum in Chicago
[Read the blog posts.]

A mini-week-long conference aimed at teaching the kids about the leadership skills needed to create change in the world. They met in Chicago, tackled global issues, completed a service project for Chicago Cares, had a whirlwind tour of the City while completing a scavenger hunt and made good friends from around the world in just five days.

Her confidence swelled after this conference. She came home and immediately started volunteering in our community (and added a few dozen new FB friends).
